Hello, I'm Charlie.

It's 11:43pm and before I began writing I had this grandiose idea of what this blog would look like. 



I'm just going to get to the point. It's hard being young... a black male... and CHRISTIAN in today's society, and in case you haven't noticed, I happen to be all three. 

My name is Charles Q. Myers and I'm a 22 year old who's passionate about being a great man of God, loving my family, and motivating others to reach their fullest potential. A catch right? I would've been the first black bachelor but I've already met my future wife at Bradley and I guess Matt James has already done that. (I'm sarcastic)

Anyways. From a young age, I knew God placed me on this earth to serve a purpose bigger than myself.  That purpose is to help others. We live in a society that makes it impossible for people to be their true selves. I know you're probably thinking, "Are you kidding me? It's the complete opposite." But in reality, what society really says is "Be yourself! but you have to do this, that, a little bit of this, you can't say that, you can't do this, oh and you're canceled." 

You don't have to be young, black, a male, or a Christian to read this blog (Warning:I will make several cultural references to the aforementioned items lol), but my hope is that in some way my experiences, advice, and the things I share help you wherever you are in life. I may not know you, or maybe I do, but I truly want you to be happy, at peace, and reach the fullest potential that God has for your life.

I'm also corny lol Since I was young, I've always felt I've had a connection with God. I remember seeing the older kids cry in church while the pastor preached. I couldn't understand why they cried, but I knew it was an experience that I wanted to share.  As I grew older, specifically within the past few years of college, I've became more open about my Christianity. I enjoy reading my Bible and sharing what I've learned with others who are willing to listen.  God has been so active in my life. I literally would not be the man I am today if it wasn't for Him. He's helped me overcome depression, learn to love myself, and be the man He's called me to be. In a current society that deeply encourages people to be their true and authentic selves, say whatever they want on Twitter, and share opinions, I quickly found out that Christianity was the "unpopular opinion." Who's really on my team?

Who's in your circle?  I believe this is a question that people always ask, but never take the time to actually evaluate. Who's really on your team???  We often create these vivid images in our minds of the groups we want to be apart of, the names we want to be associated with, the people we want to work with,  or even what an ideal friend would look like without considering who we currently have in our lives.  Some of us strive intensely to find these relationships that we neglect the ones we currently have. We don't view the people who ARE in our lives as valuable, when sometimes, those are the people who genuinely support you.  I don't know where I'd be without my girlfriend, my parents, my brother, my cousins, and my close friends. Those are the people who help me succeed and keep me motivated to be the best version of me that I can be. THEY are my network. THEY are the people who will fight for me. I don't have much to say this week. However,  it's so important to remember that you aren't perfect. You're going to make mistakes no matter how hard you try. It's ok, you're human.
