"Christians are Homophobic"

Hey Family,  I took a week off because I needed a break LOL. I pray you're doing well wherever you are in life. I also pray you know that what you're doing is significant and that you are essential part of your friend group, family, organization, job, career, and anything else you can think of.  Just a reminder this blog is called being a young, black, Christian male in 2021. It would be a disservice to all my young Christian readers like myself to not talk about the real controversial topics we face every day.  I think we can somewhat agree that Christians have borderline been canceled by society. I've been observing Twitter, as always, and one of the biggest points of discussions is that Christians are homophobic. I'm sure there are some folks out there who are Christians who've treated people apart of the LGBTQ+ with discrimination, hatred, violence, and unjust actions. This is terrible and those people should be held accountable for their actions.  On the other ...

Who's really on my team?

Who's in your circle?  I believe this is a question that people always ask, but never take the time to actually evaluate. Who's really on your team???  We often create these vivid images in our minds of the groups we want to be apart of, the names we want to be associated with, the people we want to work with,  or even what an ideal friend would look like without considering who we currently have in our lives.  Some of us strive intensely to find these relationships that we neglect the ones we currently have. We don't view the people who ARE in our lives as valuable, when sometimes, those are the people who genuinely support you.  I don't know where I'd be without my girlfriend, my parents, my brother, my cousins, and my close friends. Those are the people who help me succeed and keep me motivated to be the best version of me that I can be. THEY are my network. THEY are the people who will fight for me. THEY are the people who will advocate for me. THEY are the ...

How are you? [READ ME]

I know this a blog about being a young, black, christian male in 2021, but Bernie Sanders is my mood half of the time ðŸ˜‚. Also, I believe I can speak on behalf of the black community and say Bernie Sanders is invited to the cookout. Let me know in the comments if I am wrong ðŸ˜‚.  Anyway, how are you? You good? Hanging in there? Good. We don't quit around here.  I often wonder what Bernie was thinking as he was sitting at the Inauguration. Was he irritated? Was he cold? Was he tired? Was he confused on why he was there at all?... After a series of trying, growing, and healing mentally these are some of the questions we may ask ourselves? But as great philosopher Jermaine Cole says, there is beauty in the struggle. This week, I want us to appreciate our growing stage. Love it. Embrace it.  Sometimes we think we have to everything in our lives figured out today, but we don't. Slow it down. You are greater than your anxiety. Work at your own pace. We subconsciously g...

3 Titles: Live Más| Shoot the Shit| Don't Get Comfortable in Chaos

Whaattttt???? A blog in the middle of the day?????  In the middle of our chaos, it's important to find time to do the things we love. In the summer months, I typically sit outside on the porch with a book and a cup of coffee. It's beautiful outside today, and although it's not summer, 59 degrees is close enough lol. So where am I? Outside. In shorts, a t-shirt, and crocks. With a book, coffee, and now this blog.  Sometimes we get so comfortable in our chaos that we don't seize the opportunities in front of us. I even battled with myself today to sit on the porch. Whatever it is that you want to do today, do it. It's important to unplug, log off of social media, have a cheat day, get some fresh air, "shoot the shit"... pause... I've heard at least 5 people say that phrase in the last two weeks and I think it's hilarious. I was...
